74 oh my
The NFA jam is the reason why. These guys, as Phil puts it, were thoroughly psychedelized at this point. Just wheels turning. Fractals being painted. Mandalas written and blown apart. Also, at on point in Promised Land Bobby says “hit it Keith” just before Godchau lays down one of his epic piano solos. All cylinders baby.

Seasons
I already reviewed this show on the other Soundboard and it is very much worth a Deadheads time. Weather Report Part One -Well ,it got me thinking if the old 'Seasons of My Heart' tune which the Dead only played a handful of times 1969-1970 might have been some of the inspiration for WRS part one: Seasons Of My Heart Seasons come and seasons go We get a little sunshine, rain and snow Just the way that it was planned to be But there's no season in my heart While you play the leading part There the flowers will bloom eternally Chorus Your leaving, it will bring autumn sorrow And my tears like weathered leaves will fall But spring it may bring us glad tomorrow And darling, we could be happy after all As it is in nature's plan No season gets the upper hand How I tried to bear this fact in mind The trees are bare, the cold winds blow But by experience we should know Winter comes but the spring is close behind by George Jones Weather Report Part One: Winter rain, now tell me why Summers fade, and roses die The answer came the wind and rain Golden hills, now veiled in grey Summer leaves have blown away Now what remains? The wind and rain And like a desert spring, my lover comes and spreads her wings Knowing Like a song that's born to soar the sky Flowing Flowing 'til the waters all are dry Growing The loving in her eyes Circle songs and sands of time And seasons will end in tumbled rhyme And little change, the wind and rain And like a desert spring, my lover comes and spreads her wings Knowing Like a song that's born to soar the sky Flowing Flowing 'til the waters all are dry Growing The loving in her eyes Winter grey and falling rain We'll see summer come again Darkness falls and seasons change (gonna happen every time) Same old friends the wind and rain (we'll see summer bye and bye) Winter grey and falling rain Summers fade and roses die You'll see summer come again

Amazing Classic from the '74 repetoire
A friend of mine at BU gave me this on cassette in bits and pieces back in the early 90's. Ill never forget the turn on it was for me, even though I had been cultivating a dead fascination since I was just 8 years old in '77 with Shakedown. The Greatest, perhaps one of my favs from '74 ('74 being one of my overall fav years for GD and JG) is just sickly electrifrying. If only I could have been happily tripping on Magic Mushrooms there that day, but hey, thanks to the archive, I can do it from my home. Peace

Love the Truckin>Jam
One of the finest moments of 74 maybe ever. Great show, phils up in the mix, which is always good.
